Ισχυρός σεισμός 7,7 Ρίχτερ σημειώθηκε στο κέντρο της Μιανμάρ, σύμφωνα με το Γεωλογικό Ινστιτούτο των Ηνωμένων Πολιτειών ενώ μόλις 12 λεπτά αργότερα σημειώθηκε και δεύτερος μεγέθους 6,4 βαθμών βαθών της Κλίμακας Ρίχτερ.
Τοπικά μέσα μεταδίδουν ότι κατέρρευσε η ιστορικής σημασίας γέφυρα Ava και πολλά άλλα κτίρια. Οι εικόνες είναι συγκλονιστικές.
